In January as one of my new years resolutions I decided I wanted to start doing yoga. I had done very little yoga prior to this, but I been doing piyo at home for a couple of months, which had a lot of yoga incorporated into it, and I was really enjoying that. I had read so much positive reviews of the mental effects of yoga that I decided to give it a try. My sister had arranged for a yoga class to be done privately for my family every Wednesday night and I really enjoyed the style of the teacher and the intimacy of the class. But it only lasted for about 6 weeks and it was only once a week so I looked for a good yoga class to go to in Claresholm, unfortunately living in the small town we do and being an hour from bigger cities, there was nothing that I found that intrigued me and fit my schedule. Thankfully there are a lot of online resources that I have found and I have done a lot of yoga at home this past year. But I have LOVED it!! One of the things that really intrigued me was all of the inversions. I think they are so beautiful and their are so many health benefits from them. So I started practising the headstand. When I first started I could only do it against a wall the teddybear stand way. Eventually I got stronger, and the teacher that taught our private class showed us the other way. After lots and lots of practice I have improved drastically!
I still love the headstand, and hope to continue playing with it for many years to come, but I am ready to move onto something else now. So I have started working on the forearm stand. I am back to practising beside a wall, and everytime am amazed at how much harder this inversion is for me in comparision to the headstand, but I am hopeful I will master it someday! Until then I will just keep practising!
