All day at the zoo we could tell Laiken wasnt feeling well, he wouldnt even drink his bottle and he was so so tired! By the time we went to dinner he was burning up and he kept throwing up. Me being me, thought we would just get through supper and then take him home, give him some tylenol and put him to bed and things would be better by morning. Then his nose started bleeding every time he threw up and that kinda just pushed me over the edge. Plus the ladies we went to dinner with insisted we take him in, they were not happy with his condition. So we decided to take him into the hospital to get looked at...
may I add how much I HATE emergency rooms... you have to wait soooooooooooooo long, they poke and prod at you and its just never a good experience... plus we have never actually used our travel insurance so we were a little hesitant about that whole thing.
luckily my dad was with us so we dropped both him and Syler off at the condo and Dahlin and I headed into the hospital.
5 hours,
2 failed attempts at getting an IV,
1 chest x-ray,
and lots of blood work later
they decided he had an ear infection with an upper respiratory tract infection plus he had the flu and was dehydrated.
They made us wait while I tried to get him to drink something and we waited for his heart rate to came down, it was over 180bpm when we came in.
All i really wanted was the antibiotics perscription and to get my kidlet to bed..
in the end it was good that we took him in, but I still wonder if the tylenol and bed wouldnt have worked just as good ;)
poor guy!!! I am with you on emergency rooms - seems like such a long wait for very little actual help.
